In a recent announcement, Google shared that they will be implementing layoffs and restructuring within their product and engineering teams. Additionally, there will be changes in their executive positions and other company-wide shakeups.
Due to the progress in AI technology and the need to adjust to changing workforce demands, Google had to lay off several members of its Google Assistant team. James Park and Eric Friedman, the co-founders of Fitbit, are leaving the company. The team responsible for Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit is also undergoing reorganization. Last January, 12,000 employees were laid off, and now more job cuts have been made in the advertising sales department.
The heat is on for Google employees as they face corporate bloat, AI-driven efficiency boosts, and cost-cutting measures. With the surge in AI innovation and intense market competition, the pressure is bound to increase.
