The latest news from Volkswagen is that they will be integrating ChatGPT into their new car models via the IDA voice assistant. This means that drivers can now access the AI chatbot for information and entertainment without using their hands.
A new collaboration with Cerence has led to the introduction of custom ChatGPT vehicle integrations, made possible by their Chat Pro software. You can receive ChatGPT responses by using the IDA assistant, which can be activated either by voice or by pressing the steering wheel button. The rollout of cloud updates for VW’s Europe EV models is scheduled to begin in Q2 this year, while the company is still contemplating whether to introduce this technology in the U.S. markets.
Volkswagen is one of the many automakers adapting to the ‘smart’ technology advancements brought by AI. It is likely that other companies will also adopt cloud updates, which are easy to implement.
