Jimeng AI

The parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, has rolled out Jimeng AI for Chinese users. This app converts text into video and competes with the yet-to-be-released Sora AI video model from OpenAI.

Jimeng AI can be found on the Apple App Store and Android for users in China. ByteDance has joined the AI video generation market, following other Chinese companies like Kuaishou with its Kling AI. The subscription costs 79 yuan ($11) per month or 659 yuan ($92) per year, allowing users to create about 2,050 images or 168 AI videos each month. Unlike OpenAI’s Sora, which is not available to the public yet, Jimeng AI’s models are already accessible to users in China.

The race for AI video generation in China is heating up. Kling AI just went public a few weeks back, and now ByteDance has introduced Jimeng AI. People are looking forward to Sora’s public launch. With TikTok backing Jimeng AI, it has ample data and funding to rival other major AI players.
