OpenAI reacts to NYT’s copyright lawsuit

OpenAI has strongly defended its practices and questioned the motives of The New York Times in response to the recent lawsuit accusing them of copyright infringement. They have published a blog post to address the issue.

In August, OpenAI announced that the New York Times had chosen their content removal option, but surprisingly, they filed a lawsuit months later. The blog claims that the Times purposely selected prompts that were designed to make customers repeat information, instead of using them in a regular way.

OpenAI is clearly delineating its position against the notable Times lawsuit – regardless, changing the negative public perception of AI’s content usage will be an arduous endeavor.
