CD PROJEKT RED today released The Witcher 3 REDkit, a comprehensive and advanced modding tool for PC that gives players access to many of the same features used by developers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Developed and implemented by Yigsoft with close collaboration from the CD PROJEKT RED team, The Witcher 3 REDkit offers a plethora of advanced features as well as full Steam Workshop integration, making publishing — and using — mods easy for both creators and casual players. As a repurposed, reworked, and extended codebase of REDengine 3, it gives modders unparalleled freedom in creating new quests, characters, locations, and more. Today’s release was accompanied by a trailer that features some of the modding possibilities contained within the tool as well as an overview of its major features.
The Witcher 3 REDkit is free for all owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, and can now be downloaded from GOG, Steam, and Epic Games Store. To support modders in making use of the tool’s many functionalities, CD PROJEKT RED also released full documentation featuring tutorials on first-time setup, an overview of basic features, a growing collection of how-to tutorials, a guide for publishing mods, and much more.
The studio will soon release an interview with developers, including Narrative Director Philipp Weber, Expert Quest Designer Danisz Markiewicz, and Lead Quest Designer Błażej Augustynek, to gather their perspectives on moving from modding to working in game development, the mods they’re proudest of, and what opportunities The Witcher 3 REDkit offers.
