Google’s plans for AI

Google is focused on being a leader in AI capability and safety, but its models are not as advanced as those of rivals such as OpenAI and Microsoft. Worries among employees have arisen due to CEO Sundar Pichai’s comments, as it is expected that more layoffs will occur to support ambitious AI investments.

Bard and other AI services provided by Google have not gained momentum and are yet to deliver a standalone AI product as successful as ChatGPT. AI-generated spam content poses a danger to the company’s primary search function, but the feared disruption in search revenue caused by AI chatbots has not happened yet.

Google is feeling the heat to enhance its AI capabilities in order to keep up with the competition in cloud services and search. The outcome of its ambitious AI objectives is still up in the air, and the possibility of more job cuts and talent loss could worsen morale.
