The Microsoft Error Lookup Tool

The Microsoft Error Lookup Tool 6.4.5

Since this tool is a command line application, you need to run the command system to run it. Microsoft has not released the GUI version of this tool. With a simple command, you can easily learn error codes in detail. This tool allows you to view information/texts about the error code you entered. Since it is a command line application, you need to run it by typing its full name. Its default name is ERR_6.4.5. You can rename it "err" because it is a bit difficult to deal with typing this name correctly in the command system. Then, for easy access to this tool, put this file there as your system drive c or whatever letter you named it. To run:
  • Open cmd as administrator.
  • Then, with cd c:\, set the working directory of the command line (you may not have c) to the location of the file.
  • To search for a specific error code, you can run - ERR (Error code/name you set) command. Here you should specify the error code you want to search. For example ERR 0x81000031.
You can now see all the different descriptions mentioned about the error code, including the full error string. Of course, it does not have a detailed troubleshooting guide. Date: 24/10/2019
