Win32 Disk Imager is a free and open source software used to write ISO or IMG extension disk images to portable storage devices such as USB memory or SD cards. It is generally preferred to create an operating system installation media, backup or create bootable memory for use on different devices. The most important advantage of the program is that it can be used easily without the need for technical knowledge thanks to its simple and understandable interface. After selecting the image file and the target drive, the user can start the writing process with a single process. It also offers backup feature by taking the image of the current drive, not just writing. In this respect, it is widely used in operating system installation, especially in Raspberry Pi and similar embedded systems. Although the updates of Win32 Disk Imager are limited, it is still preferred by many users. Although there is no definite expiration date determined for the official support of the program, development studies have not been active for a long time.
