NVIDIA 616.56 driver causes black and white flickering on screen

Some users who installed NVIDIA's 616.56 Game Ready driver are reporting momentary black, white or colored flashes on the screen. The problem is not just in games; It can also be seen on the Windows desktop, in the internet browser, and while watching videos on YouTube.

While there are reports in games such as The Last of Us and Minecraft, it appears that the problem is not limited to a specific game or series of graphics cards. Similar reports have come from people using RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 series graphics cards. On some laptops, the screen brightness constantly decreases and increases again.

NVIDIA confirmed the problem and said it was working on a fix. However, it is stated that the fix does not reach the next completed driver and will be released with a later version.

Temporary solutions that can be tried for now:

• Setting the color depth to 10 bpc if supported via NVIDIA Control Panel.
• Enabling Windows' Automatic Color Management feature.

When I switched to 10 BPC, the problem was solved. NVIDIA is also aware of the problem and it will be fixed with the new update. Frankly, I was too lazy to go back to the old driver.
